Batch 8: Approved Grants

10.5.22

We're thrilled to announce Batch 8 of grants to round off the first six months of the OGP. This batch includes a total of $430k in funding to be distributed among six grantees. Read more about each new, exciting initiative below.

Throughout the past six months, we have approved 43 projects over eight batches of grants, amounting to $1.8M+ in total funding, after having reviewed and diligenced 250+ applications. We had a great time meeting many grantees in person at Cosmoverse, and couldn't be more excited about the future of Osmosis.

Since our initial term is coming to an end, the team is working on a renewal proposal for the OGP, which will include more details on our accomplishments to date and our future plans. Stay tuned!

Custom MEV Module

Skip Protocol

Upfront

25,000 USDC

Milestone 1

25,000 USDC

Milestone 2

25,000 USDC

Completion

To build an in-protocol custom MEV module for Osmosis that aims to capture and distribute MEV to Osmosis participants. Note that the delivery of the grant is conditional upon governance approval. The milestones are as follows: Milestone 1 = delivery of MVP on Osmosis testnet with at least 10-20 validator partners; Milestone 2 = mainnet launch with integration of all validators.

Skip's custom MEV module for Osmosis will unlock arbitrage revenue (which currently goes to MEV searchers) for the DAO, opening a new source of rewards for stakers and validators.

Incentives Optimization - Research

Hathor Nodes

Upfront

25,000 USDC

Milestone 1

50,000 USDC

Milestone 2

75,000 USDC

Completion

To research and analyze historical incentives data to inform the build of a new incentives system for Osmosis. Hathor will also lead the creation of a governance proposal to implement this new incentives system and, if successful, will be a part of a new incentives working group that will provide on-going oversight over LP incentives for Osmosis. Milestone 1 = submission of a governance proposal for new incentives system based on research findings; Milestone 2 = successful governance proposal and implementation of the new incentives system.

The new incentives model will optimize LP incentive allocations across pools and significantly reduce costs for Osmosis by ensuring that the protocol is not overpaying for liquidity. The end result is an improved trading experience for users by reducing slippage for under-incentivized pairs. The model will also reduce the governance overhead associated with regular incentive adjustment proposals, as it will be semi-dynamic and automated.

To build data pipelines and simulation dashboards using the data collected from Hathor Nodes to predict results for new incentives recommendations based on varying market volatility, volume and liquidity. Chaos will collaborate with Hathor to post a governance proposal which will detail the set of parameters for the new incentives model and, if successful, Chaos will assist with the implementation of the new incentives system. Milestone 1 = submission of a governance proposal for new incentives system based on data engineering and web application development efforts; Milestone 2 = successful governance proposal and implementation of new incentives system; Milestone 3 = delivery of public facing dashboards.

Augmentation of Data + Historical Charts

Map of Zones

Upfront

2,500 USDC

Completion

12,500 USDC

To build historical charts for every zone on mainnet listed on Map of Zones. Charts will include: IBC volume + IBC volume in/out, number of transactions, number of IBC transfers, daily active wallet address for IBC and IBC-enabled zones, number of delegators per zone, delegation/undelegation + Interchain DAUs charts.

Thanks to Map of Zones’ historical charts, users will be able to easily assess the historical growth of Osmosis, as well as the IBC ecosystem as a whole. The data will also be extremely valuable for Osmosis users who are trading IBC assets listed on Osmosis.

To integrate Strike Wallet, a non-custiodial institutional-grade wallet, with Osmosis.

Strike aims to eliminate the compromise between custiodial, institutional-grade multi-sig wallets, such as Fireblocks and Anchorage, and non-custodial smart contract wallets, while maintaining a simple, easy-to-use UX experience for users. This will allow investors to hold, trade, LP, and use dApps in a much more secure way on Osmosis.
