Batch 5: Approved Grants

7.8.22

Today, we are happy to share that the fifth batch of grants has been approved by the Committee! This batch has a total of five grants which amount to $198,000 in funding. To learn more about the projects in this batch, check out the table below.

The volume of incoming applications for grants remains high, reaching 150+ total applications. We are still working through 30+ applications, which will take time for us to properly diligence. Please bear with us as we work through them. If you haven't had a response from us yet, it means we're still working through your proposal.

We’ve also begun to make the first batch of payments to existing grantees. We appreciate the community’s patience as we’ve worked through the legal and operational setup, and anticipate making payments on a more regular basis going forward.

Cron.cat will bring its decentralized automation layer to Osmosis. They aim to deliver a simple SDK for CosmWasm developers to integrate event-driven and scheduled tasks for Osmosis. The project will be completed in two milestones: Milestone 1 (Delivery of croncat agent; contract testing coverage), Milestone 2 (Delivery of core contracts; documentation; website; E2E testing).

Croncat's core benefit to Osmosis is a developer UX that solves any schedule or event based logic execution. The community will benefit from their streamlined web interface to automate common patterns & flows they do manually today.

Laika is a Postman for web3, a tool to make requests to smart contracts. The team will integrate its CosmWasm request builder with Osmosis-native developer tooling for a seamless developer experience.

This will provide Osmosis developers with no-code smart contract requests, explore & import contracts via chain explorers, code snippets generation, and more. Laika will be working alongside other developer tools to build a toolkit for CosmWasm developers.

Kado

Infrastructure
Funding Amount

75,000 USDC

Applicant

Emery Andrew

Upfront

25,000 USDC

Completion

50,000 USDC

This grant will serve to integrate Kado's on/off-ramp interfaces, fiat-crypto APIs, and stablecoin payments infrastructure with Osmosis. The initial grant will help cover audit costs, and the completion grant will help cover swap fees and bridge fees, which will be matched by Kado with $25k in incentive support for Osmosis.

Kado is a crucial piece of infrastructure for Osmosis to compete with CEXs as it will enable users to on/off ramp directly onto Osmosis, and facilitate stablecoin payments.

REGEN network - minting for LP #42 external incentives

Sunshine Validation

Upfront

Completion

$30,000 (in OSMO)

This grant will serve to build infrastructure that will allow Regen Network to redirect a portion of their REGEN inflation directly to the REGEN/OSMO pool for external incentives. The completion of this grant will depend on the success of a governance proposal on Regen Network to increase inflation by 50%.

This infrastructure will benefit both Regen and Osmosis as it will incentivize tokenholders to provide more liquidity on the DEX. The infrastructure will also open up the doors for other networks to incentivize liquidity pools with inflation.

REstake.app

Tooling
Funding Amount

$30,000 (in OSMO)

Applicant

Tom Beynon

Upfront

$10,000 (in OSMO)

Completion

$20,000 (in OSMO)

The initial funding is a retro grant for what the REstake team has built so far. The completion grant will be to build a delegation tool using the AuthZ module.

REstake's delegation tool will enable tokenholders to delegate their voting power to delegates which may not be validators. This new class of delegates would sit between tokenholders and validators.
